Tee Harris

The Sound Table

Tee Harris’s Djing career spans over thirty years, having started on the circuit holding club nights in local youth centres, and with various ”Sound Systems” before branching out on his own. His first “real” residency was at the now legendary London friday nighter “The Jazzifunk Club” where after a move to The Ambassador’s Hotel function room, he soon became the main room resident, following in the footsteps of former resident Paul “Trouble” Anderson, one of his djing heroes.

In late 1985 he joined a group of fellow dj’s and music aficionados who were somewhat disillusioned by the radio and club scene, as a lot of good quality music of various genres was not being heard on the radio.

They had a vision to create a music station that would cater for “all” types of dance music, utilising each dj’s particular skills and knowledge.

In late 1985, the pirate radio station Kiss FM was born!!

Tee presented his own show from the first day on air, produced and edited the early incarnation of “The Word” magazine program with the likes of Lisa I ‘Anson and Tony Farsides and was there at the end of “unlicensed broadcasting” to physically flick the switch and say goodbye when Kiss decided to go for one of the legal radio licenses being offered.

In 1990 the dream came true and “Kiss100 Fm” became a legal station.

Tee continued to present his own show and also stand-in for the likes of David Rodigan, Trevor Nelson and Dave Pearce on the daytime shows. When the musical direction of Kiss began to change, Tee resigned in 1993 but still continued to record radio shows, which were syndicated throughout Europe, America and Japan. Not long after Kiss launched Tee travelled to Japan to launch Kiss Kobe who he recorded a regular hour long dance show for.

When recording for the syndicated show “Sounds Of The New York Underground”, Tee was originally the only UK DJ in a line up that boasted now legendary DJ/producers, Todd Terry, the late Frankie Knuckles and David Morales, just to name a few. His mix shows would be heard alongside their own and by some of the feedback he received, sometimes surpassed the bigger names!!

As a DJ, Tee has travelled the world to play in many clubs and at many events and held residencies at "The Borderline" and regular spots at "Release The Pressure" and "Social Intercourse", as well as making appearances at "The Ministry Of Sound", "Club Zoo" and "Garage City" in London, "Lofthouse" and "Red Dog", Frankfurt and "Madison’s" in Jersey to name just a few of his favourite gigs.

As well as Djing, Tee also turned his hand to producing his own records and remixing for others and has enjoyed club success with tracks under his pseudonyms "The Survivor", "Tribe Of One" and "Fusion Beats" as well as on his remixes for Janet Rushmore, Vanessa Simon and even worked with Crystal Waters on a couple of tracks!

Tee was active in the music industry too from working as a booking agent for Concorde Artistes, writing the first house music column for Mixmag magazine to club and radio promotions for Power Promotions and Press to Play, to being label manager for Freetown Records with artists like Leee John and Kerri Chandler.

After a brief hiatus from the music scene, the lure of radio was too much and he joined the ranks of dj’s on Delite Radio. Tee is beginning to raise eyebrows again with his no holds barred approach to music and you can hear a truly eclectic mix of music on “The Sound Table”. Features such as Jazzy Noises Fusion Beats, Mellow Madness, The Northern Nine, The Rap Rewind will all make an appearance alongside quality house and dance (a likkle reggae too !!) and of course he’ll be doing it In The Mix!

“I’ve experienced and come through so many genres and loved every one of them as each genre and scene has offered something different, and variety as they say is the spice of life. Some know me for my house sets, some for my boogie and soul sets but the bottom line is I’m a lover of music in many forms and my show aims to reflect that. There is too much good music to just focus on one sound and I aim to serve that up each week in my own inimitable style.

The choicest cuts across the music spectrum, future & classic house & dance plus features like Jazzy Noises Fusion Beats. Dropping a selection of classic and nu jazz & fusion tracks. The Rap Rewind (a classic rap/hip hop cut), Mellow Madness (mid-tempo soul) A monthly features The Northern 9 which is 9 minutes of Northern/Motown soul) And Revive 45 (old school reggae session). Goes without saying will throw in some live mixes too.
